The Human Touch in Recruitment : Why AI Cannot Replace Us
The world seems to be getting faster and technology and social media are a big part of our lives. While artificial intelligence (AI) has made significant advancements in various industries, from the food industry to mining, farming and now even recruitment.
"AI cannot fully replace the need for soft skills and empathy a human can offer."
AI can offer advanced algorithms and analytics to help with streamlining and increase efficiencies however AI cannot replicate and understand the importance of personalities and the ability to understand and connect with others on an emotional level. A good recruiter shows compassion and can listen and respond to unique needs and concerns. A good recruiter actively listens to you hears your thoughts, and sees you and your non-verbal cues such as body language and facial expressions, we provide support and guidance based on an individual's unique circumstances. Empathy is crucial for being a quality recruiter. Working together with someone who understands your career goals and can help guide you through the recruitment process cannot be replicated by a computer.
Let us not forget that our greatest asset as humans is our ability to empathise and have feelings to be adaptive and innovative to situations and take into consideration different situations, provide genuine feedback and our thoughts. This is what makes us unique. As experienced recruiters, we play a critical role in building relationships with candidates and clients (employers) we have interpersonal skills and sales skills that can influence decision-making. Can a computer understand motivations address your worries tell you about ethical considerations, the culture of a business and describe personalities that you will be working with?
In the wake of AI, there is a growing realisation that the human touch is irreplaceable. While AI can undoubtedly expedite processes and assist in efficient candidate filtering, it cannot replicate the depth of understanding and personal connection provided by a good human recruiter. Recruitment is about building relationships, understanding career aspirations, and aligning them with a company’s goals. These intangible aspects of human interaction have the power to shape the future success of both individuals and companies.
In summary, while AI can streamline certain aspects of recruitment, it cannot replace the essential role of a human recruiter in providing empathy, understanding, and personalised guidance to candidates. Empathy remains a crucial human skill that complements and enhances the use of technology in recruitment processes.
